Rahwa Kinfe: Advocating for Tigray and the Victims of Genocide
In the prestigious MBB 2023 pageant, Rahwa Kinfe, a Limbourgeoise, emerged as the 1st Runner-Up. Representing the community of Tigray, Rahwa delivered a powerful speech that highlighted the ongoing struggles faced by her people. With a deep sense of pride and commitment, Rahwa expressed her dedication to Tigray and her mission to bring attention to the atrocities and challenges faced by the region.
“It was all about Tigray ????❤️
It is still about Tigray ????❤️
It will always be about Tigray ????❤️” – Rahwa Kinfe on her official Facebook account.
Rahwa spoke passionately about her love and unwavering support for her people, emphasizing that her journey extends far beyond the pageant stage. Having experienced firsthand the dire circumstances in her region, Rahwa made the difficult decision to leave her homeland due to the ethnic targeted violence in Ethiopia. Tigrayans, including Rahwa, faced life-threatening situations, prompting her relocation to Belgium in March 2022.
Rahwa shed light on the devastating reality faced by the people of Tigray. Over the course of two years, the region witnessed a genocidal war that claimed the lives of more than 600,000 Tigrayans. Heartbreakingly, more than 120,000 innocent women became victims of rape and sexual violence. Fleeing to Sudan for safety, these women now find themselves in dangerous conditions, desperate for help and support.
In the face of ethnic-targeted violence and a genocidal war that plagued Tigray, thousands of Tigrayans, including women and girls, were forced to flee their homes in search of safety. Sudan became a temporary sanctuary for many, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. However, the situation in Sudan remains perilous, with the Tigrayan survivors facing ongoing challenges and a desperate need for humanitarian assistance.
Rahwa’s primary objective is to amplify the voices of the Tigrayan women and girls who have suffered unspeakable atrocities. She plans to expand her project, focusing on safeguarding and providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to the victims of genocide, particularly those who have experienced gang rape and sexual violence while currently residing in Sudan.
Rahwa KINFE’s dedication to empowering Tigrayan survivors in Sudan serves as a beacon of hope in the face of immense adversity. Through her unwavering commitment, she sheds light on the struggles faced by these individuals and provides a platform for their voices to be heard. Rahwa’s efforts remind us of the power of compassion, resilience, and unity in times of crisis. These survivors face not only physical and emotional scars but also societal stigmatization, further exacerbating their suffering. Rahwa’s project seeks to provide comprehensive support, including medical care, counseling, and initiatives aimed at reintegrating them into society and empowering them for a brighter future.
Rahwa’s presence in the MBB 2023 pageant offers an opportunity to raise awareness about the crisis in Tigray and the plight of its women and girls. By speaking out and advocating for these victims, Rahwa aims to garner support from the international community to provide the necessary aid and resources to help rebuild their lives.
Rahwa Kinfe, the 1st Runner-Up in MBB 2023 and representative of Tigray, serves as a beacon of hope and strength for her people. Her heartfelt commitment to her region and the victims of genocide, particularly the women and girls who have suffered unimaginable pain, reflects a deep sense of compassion and determination. Through her advocacy and dedicated efforts, Rahwa aims to bring about positive change and a brighter future for Tigray, where her people can thrive once again.
