Mr. Getachew also commented about the defense force, and the vice chief of staf G/ Brhanu Jula ” I have respect for General Berhanu Jula and the Defense Forces. I would say that for a novice dictator, it is better to have a constitutional duty than to save an individual who is not saved and is hated by the people. It is not his job to talk about prosperity. If he wants to join a prosperous party, he can join in a civilian. It’s easy, it’s just obedience to Abi Ahmed.”

Another prominent party in Ethiopian politics Ethiopian Democratic party wrote a letter about the invitation to participate in the opening session as follows

Ethiopia Democratic Party, EDP

“Our party is invited to attend the 5th opening ceremony of the 5th House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the House of Federation on Oct 05,2020 at 8:00 PM, followed by 1:00 PM. However, in the name of constitutional interpretation, we strongly oppose the government’s illegal extension of power and we respectfully declare that our party will not be present in either program. We still believe that a comprehensive reconciliation government should be established. To this end, we believe that the nature of an all-inclusive national dialogue and reconciliation forum should be discussed in order to overcome the national dangers that lie ahead. Otherwise, we do not believe that all the activities of the government alone will only complicate our country’s problems”
