Social networking services Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are affected by a several-hour outage. All three services are owned by Facebook and cannot be accessed via the web or smartphone applications. Outage Tracks Down detector recorded tens of thousands of outage reports for all three platforms around the world.

Facebook’s chief technology officer, Mike Schroepfer, tweeted his “sincere apology” to those affected. “We are having network problems and teams are working as fast as possible to fix errors and recover them as soon as possible,” he wrote.
